For your security and HIPAA concerns, MME offers secure email services through Microsoft 365 or Google Apps. Microsoft 365 message encryption is a service built on Azure Rights Management that lets you send encrypted email and attachments to people inside or outside your organization, regardless of the destination email address. Google Apps does require a third party service like Virtu to provide the necessary end-to-end email encryption even though Google Apps runs on a secure platform.
Have you ever received a phone call or a message from someone asking if you actually sent an email with a strange attachment? If so, your email address may have been spoofed. We can help prevent that type of unauthorized activity by enabling global email security standards like SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Think of it as a secret signature on an email verifying it’s coming from you.
For these security standards to work, we need to make some adjustments to your domain name registrar or DNS settings. This informs the global community of email servers to verify the authenticity of an email from your domain before allowing it to pass. It’s not always perfect since some email servers don’t check these settings but it’s one easy step that we can help get you pointed in the right direction.
One additional feature that can be enabled to keep unauthorized access to your email is to turn on 2FA or two-factor authentication for the email account. You are probably already doing 2FA if you use an iPhone or do online banking. This extra layer of security requires access to either a mobile phone (via text or Authenticator App) or a secondary email account. If you’re interested in adding this capability, please let us know and we’ll help you through the process.
